Is anyone else reading the glut of BlogHer recaps and feeling just a teensy bit jealous? How about insanely jealous?
**Raises hand**
I should have gone last year when it was in Chicago. Chicago is only a mere 150 miles away and it would have been nice to have had my first conference experience be only a few hours from home. You know, so I could flee if I had to. From what I hear, most people experience a few pee-your-pants moments at BlogHer.
Now that this year’s conference is over, I’m dying to find out where next year’s will be held. I think it’s time they bring it on over to the other side of the country again. How about Boston? Boston is one of my favorite cities. They have a nice, clean public transportation system and the some of the best seafood restaurants in the country. And history. Don’t forget about the history.
Wherever it’s held, I’ve already decided I will not miss next year’s conference. I’m going. I’m already planning my swag and business cards and will put in my vacation time request at work as soon as I know next year’s schedule.
So, if any of my blogging friends are interested in accompanying me (Donielle? Meg? Ginger? Anyone?), let me know because I’d really love to have some company.

I'm Heather. I live in Michigan with my husband and daughter and maintain this little enterprise while working full time and attending grad school part time. Don't ask me how I do it because I really couldn't tell you.

Man - if it comes as close as Chicago, I may just have to put in my vacation time too. Oh wait…..thats right. No boss.
hehe. Eh, still have to get it approved by the hubs though! Seriously though, if it were a couple hours away, I’m going too!
Heather,
I can only hope that someday I’ll be bloggy enough to attend a conference. I think you should definitely go! I’m with you, I’m jeal-ous!!!
How do you like “When You Are Engulfed in Flames” ? I can’t wait to read it!!! I’m a Burroughs girl myself but have recently started reading anything I can get my hands on by David Sedaris.
Hope you are well!
Lindsay
Lindsay, you should go too, especially if they pick Boston (iwishiwishiwish).
I’m liking the Sedaris so far, though I don’t think it’s as good as “Me Talk Pretty One Day.” Can you believe I’ve never read Augusten Burroughs?
Donielle, don’ t you know it’s not nice to taunt the prisoners?
As I was reading, I was thinking to myself “Oh is Heather goes, I’m going too and we can room together”! If I start socking some money away now, I just might be going. Aaaagh, I’m almost squealing now because I’m thinking how much fun it would be.
Your job is to keep me motivated and keep me blogging!
Meg, that’s excellent! I know you’ve had mixed feelings about blogging lately, but it would be a blast to go to something like this. And to not go alone would be even better. I’m going to start socking away my money, too.
Heather,
Heck, that’s only two hours away!
(Totally thought I posted this days ago- sorry!)
It BETTER be in Boston and then we will BOTH go!
Me Talk Pretty One Day is great! I also liked “Naked” a lot. I have a
littlelot bit of an obsession with Augusten Burroughs (to the point where my husband gets a little concerned. I have a huuuge let’s call it ‘writer crush’ on him. (Even though he’s a gay man in his…. 40’s?) The funny thing is I work part time for a LGBT newspaper and I still don’t have the guts to interview him. (I kind of am afraid he won’t be what I expect him be).He is very descriptive and his stories are really outrageous. “Possible Side Effects” is my absolute favorite. It’s a book of short stories. When I was afraid to write a somewhat scandalous (true) story in creative writing in college (which I later had to read in front of my whole class) Ben took one look at me and said ‘now what would Augusten do?’ LMAO.
Now that I’ve written you a whole book, have a great day!
Lindsay
I don’t think I’m a member of BlogHer. Do you have to be a member? I guess I should check into it. I would LOVE to go!
Ginger, the BlogHer convention is for any woman with a blog. I heard there were also a few guys there this year. Dooce and Amalah usually attend, as well as some other high profile bloggers. Just go on Flickr and search “BlogHer” and you’ll see how crazy the conference is.
There is a BlogHer ReachOut tour this fall, and it is indeed stopping in Boston:

I’d love to go. Unfortunately I’m in grad school and the fall schedule doesn’t work well for me. Thanks!
